anime wrap up

Once again I have finished some anime! || Anime Wrap Up [#6]

Feature

Somehow I have managed to accumulate 8 anime that I recently finished and that I need to talk about. (I honestly didn’t think there were that many.) It’s great that I planned to have these wrap ups feature the most recent 5 anime I finished. I was basically too lazy to write this post earlier and it turned out like this. So once again, we are in for a long post and a lot of my rambling. Apparently I have been in the mood to watch anime a lot lately, not that I’m complaining after all I do it. Now let’s get into the anime I finished recently, as this post is going to be long enough without me rambling in this beginning part!

AnimeSaiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan

Episodes: 120

Supernatural | Comedy | School

My rating: 8/10 (Very Good)

To the average person, psychic abilities might seem a blessing; for Kusuo Saiki, however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Gifted with a wide assortment of supernatural abilities ranging from telepathy to x-ray vision, he finds this so-called blessing to be nothing but a curse. As all the inconveniences his powers cause constantly pile up, all Kusuo aims for is an ordinary, hassle-free life—a life where ignorance is bliss.

Unfortunately, the life of a psychic is far from quiet. Though Kusuo tries to stay out of the spotlight by keeping his powers a secret from his classmates, he ends up inadvertently attracting the attention of many odd characters, such as the empty-headed Riki Nendou and the delusional Shun Kaidou. Forced to deal with the craziness of the people around him, Kusuo comes to learn that the ordinary life he has been striving for is a lot more difficult to achieve than expected.

My thoughts:

First of all, yes this anime has 120 episodes BUT they are all 5 minutes long, so it isn’t as long as it appears. Okay? Okay. I adored this anime, it was hilarious and very clever! It doesn’t have the best art or animation, but I enjoyed it non the less. The story, characters and humour made up for it. I found myself laughing out loud a lot while watching this anime. I flew through all episodes and I always eagerly anticipated more episodes to come out. (Yes, I watched it while it was airing.)

Would I recommend this anime?

Yes and no. Don’t get me wrong, I adored the anime. But I don’t think that people who have only started watching anime, and haven’t seen many shows, will enjoy it much. Or rather won’t get as much out of it as they can. But to those who have already delved into the anime world, I would highly recommend giving this anime a chance, it’s seriously fantastic! (Plus each episode is only 5 minutes long, so you definitely have the time to try it!)

AnimeHaikyuu!! Season 3

Episodes: 10

Sports | Comedy | Shounen | School

My rating: 10/10 (Masterpiece)

Obviously this is the third season, as does the title imply. What is it about you ask?

It’s about high school boys playing volleyball and competing in a tournament trying to get to nationals. You know, your usual sports anime mould.

The third season portrays only one match. Yes, 10 episodes of one match of volleyball. Obviously a lot of stuff happens and someone wins, as is usual in any competition.

A summary by me.

My thoughts:

Seeing as I gave it a 10/10 I obviously LOVED it! Not that I was surprised by that, for two reasons actually. Number one: I loved the previous two seasons. Number two: I had read this part of the manga and have (surprise surprise) loved it as well. I was actually looking forward to seeing many scenes from this match animated. So there was basically no chance for me to not enjoy this anime. I love Haikyuu!!

Would I recommend this anime?

I would obviously recommend it! Though you should probably start with the first season. (For many obvious reasons, I have no idea why I’m even mentioning it.) Anyway, seeing as this is one of my all time favourite anime I see no reason not to recommend it.

AnimeMob Psycho 100

Episodes: 12

Action | Comedy | Supernatural

My rating: 9/10 (Great)

Eighth-grader Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama has tapped into his inner wellspring of psychic prowess at a young age. But the power quickly proves to be a liability when he realizes the potential danger in his skills. Choosing to suppress his power, Mob’s only present use for his ability is to impress his longtime crush, Tsubomi, who soon grows bored of the same tricks.

In order to effectuate control on his skills, Mob enlists himself under the wing of Reigen Arataka, a con artist claiming to be a psychic, who exploits Mob’s powers for pocket change. Now, exorcising evil spirits on command has become a part of Mob’s daily, monotonous life. However, the psychic energy he exerts is barely the tip of the iceberg; if his vast potential and unrestrained emotions run berserk, a cataclysmic event that would render him completely unrecognizable will be triggered. The progression toward Mob’s explosion is rising and attempting to stop it is futile.

(Summary taken from MyAnimeList.)

My thoughts:

I had heard amazing things about this anime before starting it and a lot of people recommended it to me. It’s from the same creator as One Punch Man, which is one of my favourite anime that I have ever watched. So I was beyond exited before even getting into the first episode. And Mob Psycho 100 didn’t disappoint! It was an amazing anime, with very interesting and intriguing characters, unique art, wonderful animations and amazing story. (Yes, I’m praising it quiet highly!) Mob is definitely my favourite character, I adore him – it was very interesting seeing his progression and character development.

The biggest and only problem for me was one of the characters – Reigen – I hated him and since he is one of the main characters I had to endure many scenes with him in them. Even by the end of it, I haven’t come to like him – though I do appreciate him as a character a lot more than I did in the beginning. That’s basically the only I couldn’t give it a 10, otherwise I would have without any hesitation.

Would I recommend this anime?

Definitely! This is a very fun anime, with amazing characters and psychic powers. What more could you ask for? Though I should mention that it doesn’t have the prettiest art style and it might take you some time to get used to it. Still, I definitely think you should give this anime a chance and watch it!

AnimeKono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!

Episodes: 10

Fantasy | Comedy | Adventure

My rating: 7/10 (Good)

After dying a laughable and pathetic death on his way back from buying a game, high school student and recluse Kazuma Satou finds himself sitting before a beautiful but obnoxious goddess named Aqua. She provides the NEET with two options: continue on to heaven or reincarnate in every gamer’s dream—a real fantasy world! Choosing to start a new life, Kazuma is quickly tasked with defeating a Demon King who is terrorizing villages. But before he goes, he can choose one item of any kind to aid him in his quest, and the future hero selects Aqua. But Kazuma has made a grave mistake—Aqua is completely useless!

Unfortunately, their troubles don’t end here; it turns out that living in such a world is far different from how it plays out in a game. Instead of going on a thrilling adventure, the duo must first work to pay for their living expenses. Indeed, their misfortunes have only just begun!

(Summary taken from MyAnimeList.)

My thoughts:

I’m quiet disappointed with this anime. Everyone who I know seems to love it and consider it one of the best comedies. Sadly I don’t agree with that, at all. It was funny at times, but not as hilarious as people have said it is. Or at least, it wasn’t to me. The only two characters that I like from this anime are Kazuma and Megumin. And I freaking hate Aqua! (I wanted to hit her soooo many times while watching it!) She frustrates me with each episode more and I simply hate her. She has her funny moments, but they don’t redeem her from everything else she does throughout the episode. All in all, it’s a fun anime – it just wasn’t as good as I expected it to be, which was very disappointing.

Would I recommend this anime?

I would as people seem to adore this anime. Even though it wasn’t completely my cup of tea you might enjoy it more! Plus it has a lot of potential and two (in my opinion) amazing characters that you definitely need to see. So yes, I would recommend it and I hope you enjoy it more than I did. (Though I think the disappointment hindered me from enjoying it as much as I could.)

AnimeShokugeki no Souma Season 1 and Season 2

Episodes:

first season 24 and second season 13

Ecchi | School | Shounen

My rating: both 8/10 (Very Good)

Ever since he was a child, fifteen-year-old Souma Yukihira has helped his father by working as the sous chef in the restaurant his father runs and owns. Throughout the years, Souma developed a passion for entertaining his customers with his creative, skilled, and daring culinary creations. His dream is to someday own his family’s restaurant as its head chef.

Yet when his father suddenly decides to close the restaurant to test his cooking abilities in restaurants around the world, he sends Souma to Tootsuki Culinary Academy, an elite cooking school where only 10 percent of the students graduate. The institution is famous for its “Shokugeki” or “food wars,” where students face off in intense, high-stakes cooking showdowns.

As Souma and his new schoolmates struggle to survive the extreme lifestyle of Tootsuki, more and greater challenges await him, putting his years of learning under his father to the test.

(Summary taken from MyAnimeList.)

My thoughts:

I honestly had no idea what to expect from this anime. I only knew two things about it. One: It’s about cooking. And two: The food looks freaking delicious. Why did I decide to watch it when I knew nothing about it? EVERYONE was recommending it to me and saying how amazing it is. As the second season had just finished airing, I decided to give it a try and see what I thought of it.

I ended up watching both seasons and reading the manga. Yes, I obviously did enjoy it. I didn’t think a cooking anime could interest me as much as it did, I was pleasantly surprised! So why did I give it only an 8 and not something higher? The fan-service and ecchi elements were too much for me, they really started bothering me throughout the anime. I’m not the biggest fan of either and this anime takes it to another level. Or at least it seemed that way to me, as I don’t usually watch anime in that genre.

I did like a lot of the characters, they were very interesting and quirky in their own way. Plus it was very enjoyable learning more about their pasts and seeing their motivation for cooking. I also like the school that they all attend and how it’s structured – especially the Elite Ten and the legacy of it. My favourite character by far is Soma and a character I dislike is Erina (though that’s an unpopular opinion as a lot of people seem to adore her.)

Would I recommend this anime?

Yes, I would. As I already mentioned, it’s a fun anime and one definitely worth the watch. Plus a lot of people love this anime and that has to mean something. If you dislike ecchi anime, I would still give it a go and see if this is one you are interested in.

AnimeNatsume Yuujinchou Go

Episodes: 11

Slice of Life | Supernatural | Drama

My rating: 9/10 (Great)

This is the 5th season. As far as I know go means five in Japanese, so it’s as the title implies.

So you definitely need to watch the first season. I say definitely because it’s freaking amazing and one of my all time favourites.

What is it about? Natsume Takashi can see youkai (if you don’t know what it is, look it up) and in this anime we follow his daily life while he deals with them and tries to survive.

There’s also a talking cat. (Kind of.) And what more could you ask for?

My thoughts:

I loved this season of Natsume Yuujinchou! As I already mentioned in the summary, this is one of my all time favourite anime and I knew I was going to love it. Why was I so sure? Because I have loved all the seasons so far and I simply ADORE ALL the characters. So there was basically no way I wasn’t going to enjoy this season of it. Some really crazy and exiting things happened in this season (not that I can write about them, as those are major spoilers), but it was mostly as it usually is – portraying the daily life of Natsume Takashi. And I loved every moment of it! Plus we get more backstory on another important character in this season, it was very interesting.

Would I recommend this anime?

Obviously I would. (And I mean the first season, as if that isn’t obvious as it is.) If you have read my thoughts on it, you already know I loved it. Why wouldn’t I recommend one of my all time favourite anime?

AnimeTanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge

Episodes: 12

Slice of Life | Comedy | School

My rating: 8/10 (Very Good)

For high school student Tanaka, the act of being listless is a way of life. Known for his inattentiveness and ability to fall asleep anywhere, Tanaka prays that each day will be as uneventful as the last, seeking to preserve his lazy lifestyle however he can by avoiding situations that require him to exert himself. Along with his dependable friend Oota who helps him with tasks he is unable to accomplish, the lethargic teenager constantly deals with events that prevent him from experiencing the quiet and peaceful days he longs for.

(Summary taken from MyAnimeList.)

My thoughts:

This was an anime I had my eye on for the longest time. I really enjoy watching Slice of Life anime and the art for this one seemed really cute (and it was cute, now that I have watched it). It always intrigued me. I finally decided to watch it a few days ago. It was simply amazing! This is a rather relaxing anime, with lovable characters and some very humorous moments. I found myself laughing out loud a lot.

The interactions between all the characters and their friendship were amazing, especially between Tanaka and Oota. Those two were definitely my favourites. All in all, I really enjoyed this anime and I’m very happy that I decided to give it a go. I watched it at the perfect time, when I was just in the right mood for this kind of anime.

Would I recommend this anime?

Yes I would definitely recommend it, especially if you enjoy Slice of Life anime. It’s a great one and I don’t hear a lot of people talking about (sadly that is). I will most likely be picking up the manga, as I need more from these characters in my life!

Well, that was a rather long wrap up!

A QUESTION for all of you:

Would you prefer for me to write my summaries the way I did with Haikyuu and Natsume Yuujinchou? Or would you like the usual summary with a lot information about the anime? Let me know!

Those two were very much improvised, as MyAnimeList didn’t have summaries for them – probably because they are later seasons of the anime. I had a lot of fun writing them that way though, so I was interested in seeing if you would prefer them to be that way. And I really don’t mind doing them either way.

Thank you ver much for reading (especially if you made it through all my rambling). I hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. That’s a lot of anime! Good job! (I haven’t watched a lot of it lately… Bad Sophie)
I personally enjoy the full summaries as I don’t have to go through the hassle of looking them up myself XD But if you provide enough information on your own (shorter) version, I’d enjoy them as well.
I haven’t tried any of these yet so I’m excited to check them out! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I have no idea how I managed to watch that many. I have periods of when I watch a ton of anime and then I don’t watch anything for weeks. So I completely get you! XD
I thought that full summaries were better, for that exact reason sooo I shall keep doing them. And my improvised ones will be when there is no summary. Thank you for your input! 🙂
I hope you enjoy the ones you decide to watch!!
