book haul

Wait…I do Book Hauls?!

Book Haul

The last time that I did a book haul on my blog was in June of 2016. So it’s been OVER 15 MONTHS since I have done one of these!? WHAT?!

I was on a book buying ban, so the amount of books that I bought was a lot smaller than it used to be. (Plus I didn’t really have the money either.) And I never felt like doing a haul as it would require a lot of work – I hadn’t been keeping track on when I bough new books, so I would have to look at all my owned books and think about when I got them. I have been lazy when it comes to that, which is nothing new.

Now I have decided to get back into doing book hauls!! These are most of the books that I have bought since I have done my last book haul! (I say most of, because I’m not sure if I have forgotten any.) From now on I will keep track of the books I buy and post these hauls more regularly – no way it’s going to be monthly, as I don’t buy enough books for that.

Lets get into the books I bough!

(If I have any reviews for these books, they will be linked.)

Book Haul

As you may know, if you have been following my blog for a while, Leigh Bardugo is one of my all time favourite authors!

I just loved her Grisha trilogy, so when I heard that she was coming out with new books set in the same world I was BEYOND exited for them! I ended up loving the Six of Crows duology even more!

I obviously bought them and I got the ones with the coloured papers (edges, whatever they are called). I also love the fact that these books have maps in them. These books are simply STUNNING!!

Neil Gaiman is one of my favourite authors as well. I just love his writing style and his stories tend to be dark and wonderful. So I obviously had to get more of his books!

I actually got Norse Mythology for my birthday this year and that was the first time that I had read any short stories by Neil Gaiman. I really enjoyed that book and knew that I had to read more of his short stories, so I decided to get Fragile Things. I had to get American Gods as well, as it’s one of his most famous works and I haven’t read it yet. (Nor do I really know what it’s about.)

It appears that I have decided to start this haul with my favourite authors, as Rick Riordan is one of them as well. So far I have read Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Heroes of Olympus and The Kane Chronicles by him and I have loved most of his books!

He is definitely one of the authors that I want to read everything from. So I obviously had to get Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. Yes, I know that the first book is a different size than the other two. Yes, it’s bothering me as well! Anyway. I love the covers for the second and third book, they are so pretty! (The first one, not so much.) I’m really exited to start this series!

20171022_175740And another book by Rick Riordan. Of course I had to get The Hidden Oracle, after all I can’t get enough of the world that Rick Riordan has created in his Percy Jackson series!

Spellslinger is another book that I got this year for my birthday. I have heard many great things about Sebastian De Castell’s other series but I haven’t heard anything about this one. It sounds really interesting and I can’t wait to get around to it. The cover is simply gorgeous as well, which is always a nice bonus. (I think it’s a duology and that the second book is out by now as well.)

I have read and loved The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi, so when I heard that she was coming out with a companion novel set in the same world I knew I had to get it! I still haven’t read A Crown of Wishes for some reason. I should probably change that soon, as I’m most likely going to love this book as well.

And I also got Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Which I haven’t read either and which I don’t know when I will read. I haven’t heard good things about it and I have a feeling that I won’t enjoy it either, so I’m always putting off reading it. I do still want to know what happens in it, but I also kind of don’t. So there is that. Whenever I end up reading this book I will write a review for it, so we shall see what I’ll think of it.

The Lunar Chronicles and The Mortal Instruments. Two of the most popular young adult series out there and I haven’t read either of them. (Or rather I haven’t finished either of them.)

I have read Cinder and enjoyed it a lot and ever since then I have wanted to continue with the series. I have finally gotten my hands on Scarlet and I’m hoping to get around to it soon! I can’t wait to find out how the story will continue.

I have already read City of Ashes, which I enjoyed a lot more than City of Bones. I can’t wait to continue reading this series, but that means that I need to find the next book – which has seemed impossible so far (I might have to order it online). So we shall see when I will be able to continue it.

I don’t think I have bought A Darker Shade of Magic in these past 15 months. But I have gotten the two sequels this year. I just needed to put them together, as they look simply stunning.

I have adored the first book in this series, as I expected I would since it’s Victoria Schwab and I have loved everything that I read by her. I can’t wait to get to the other books in this series! I’m planning on at least reading the second one before the end of the year. (And I’m beyond exited about that!)

Book Haul

I have heard so many amazing things about Theft of Swords and Michael J. Sullivan’s other books. They sound beyond amazing and like something that I would simply love! Plus I have heard that there is an amazing bromance in this series as well.

I have read Wolf by Wolf a while ago, with my good blogging friend Ariana @The Quirky Book Nerd and I ended up loving it. So of course I had to get the sequel as well, which I can’t wait to get around to!

Book Haul

Uprooted has been a book that I have wanted to get ever since I first heard about it. It simply sounds like a book that I would love. The reason why I waited so long to get it is because I wanted the hardcover. But they are so expensive, so in the end I decided to buy the paperback – which is also really pretty!

The Demon King is a book that I have heard quiet a bit about and one that people keep recommending me. So I finally managed to get my hands on it and I’m really exited to get around to reading it! Hopefully I will love it as much as other people seem to.

Have you read any of these books? Which ones do you think I should read first?

Thank you very much for reading and I hope that you have a wonderful day!

  2. Leigh Bardugo ❤ Neil Gaiman ❤ V.E. Schwab ❤
I really hope you enjoy Scarlet, Anna ^^ It was my favorite in the whole series and, in my opinion, far superior to Cinder. Every sequel seemed to get better and better too!
I'm insanely curious about the other books in this post… Definitely glad to see you doing hauls and hope you do more soon!

    1. YESSS!! 😍 ❤
I'm glad to hear that Scarlet is your favourite. I did enjoy Cinder a lot, but I didn't completely love it. I'm really exited to continue that series and see where the story will go.
I have missed doing hauls, so I will definitely be keeping them up. We shall see when the next one will be, as I first need to get enough books to justify another post. 😀

  3. I recently read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It’s a pretty fast read because of the script-format, but I felt like Harry Potter didn’t really feel like Harry Potter for a large chunk of the story.
Apart from that, I did enjoy reading it though! Hope you’ll get around to reading it instead of letting it catch dust on your TBR, haha. 😀 *My copy was there for over half a year..*

    1. I’m expecting it to be a fast read because of that. That’s what I have been hearing from other people as well, which is one of the reasons that I’m hesitant to pick the book up. Harry Potter has always been my favourite character and I really don’t want this book to ruin that, so we shall see when I will actually read it. (Though I definitely plan on reading it, as I’m curious about the story.) 😀

  4. It’s actually pretty awesome that you waited so long to do one, cos it means there are so many beautiful books to ogle! I absolutely loved the six of crows duology too! And you’re right, the books are gorgeous!! I really love Gaiman too 😀 And oh gosh yes, the Shades of Magic books look stunning all together like that! And I really need to get to Uprooted at some point. And I love the Demon King series so much!! Fantastic haul!

    1. Haha, I’m surprised that I waited this long to do another book haul. But you are right, this was I managed to gather many beautiful books. The Six of Crows duology is simply amazing, it deserves all the love! 😀 Neil Gaiman is definitely one of my favourites and I can’t wait to read more by him. The Shades of Magic books have such beautiful covers! I’m glad to hear that you loved the Demon King series, I can’t wait to get around to it! 😀 Thank you!!

  5. WOWZA! This is ONE HUGE HAUL! I understand that it’s been a day or two since you’ve done a haul post, but man. I’m really impressed!!!

I’ve read a surprising number of these books too! That never happens. What to read first… hm… American Gods is a wonderful slow-burn of a book. It’s great if you love Gaiman’s writing. Please finish reading Shades of Magic immediately. Because those books are amazing. And my favorite character in the series is introduced in book 2. Finally, I want to know what you think of the rest of The Lunar Chronicles. Personally, I felt that Cinder was the weakest book. But, that is apparently an unpopular opinion. I want to know yours. 😀

    1. It seriously turned out to be a huge haul!! 😀
I love Gaiman’s writing and I’m very much looking forward to reading American Gods. I have a feeling that I’m going to enjoy it a lot. I definitely plan on reading the second book in the Shades of Magic series before the end of the year. And I can’t believe I haven’t continued that series yet since I have LOVED A Darker Shade of Magic. I’m exited to continue reading The Lunar Chronicles, we shall see what my opinion will be! 😀

  6. American Gods is actually my first novel by Neil Gaiman and… man… it is not what you could imagine it is about. He tackles some fascinating ideas in such a unique and beautiful way though. Hope you enjoy it! He’s one author I’ll probably never get enough of. I also read Six of Crows and immensely enjoyed it, but having putting off from reading the finale.. Out of fear that it might disappoint me actually. 😦 I know I’ll read it some day but I also love to keep Six of Crows as a solo story! 😀 Honestly, you picked up some pretty epic books! Almost 90% of them are either read or on my TBR. Thanks for sharing your new collection! 😉

    1. I honestly have no idea what American Gods is about, I never read the synopsis. I just know that I love Neil Gaiman’s books and I want to read everything by him. I have a feeling that I will enjoy it a lot! 🙂 Yeah, I have that problem sometimes as well – I just don’t want a story that I loved in the first book to disappoint me with it’s ending. I do hope you end up loving it, whenever you decide to read it! 😀 I really did manage to get some amazing books this time around! It’s my pleasure! 😉
