Books I Didn’t Get to In 2017 || Top Five Wednesday

Feature

Top Five Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Lainey @GingerReadsLainey and she has passed down the torch to Sam @ThoughtsOnTomes. For more information and for future topics you can check out the goodreads group.

Lets be real, there are A TON of books that I didn’t get to in 2017 that I really wanted to read. (2017 wasn’t a good reading year for me, as I keep mentioning over and over again) These are the books that I want to prioritise in 2018 and most of them are part of series that I want to finish. There isn’t much more to add to that, lets just get into the books that I want to read as soon as possible!

5. Unravel Me and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

I read Shatter Me a while ago (I just added it here, because I love how these covers look together) and ever since then I have wanted to continue reading this series. For some reason I never got around to it. (Maybe because I’m not the best with finishing series.) This is definitely a priority for me, I really want to finish these two books this year! Especially since the series is being expanded as well.

Roshani Chokshi

4. A Crowns of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi

The Star-Touched Queen is one of my favourite books! I simply adored it, so when I heard that there would be a companion book set in the same world I was beyond exited. (I even preordered this book, but never actually got around to reading it.) Roshani Chokshi writes beautifully and I have heard nothing but amazing things about A Crown of Wishes, so I can’t wait to get around to it.

Uprooted

3. Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Uprooted sounds like a book that I would completely adore. Ever since I first heard of it I knew that I had to get my hands on it and read it. (Honestly I have no idea why I haven’t read it yet, especially since I already own it.) Plus I have been seeing many positive reviews from people who have similar taste in books as me. I definitely need to get to this book as soon as possible!

2. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I can’t believe that I haven’t finished The Mortal Instruments yet. I read the first three books (I included City of Glass here, as I just finished reading it this week) in this series and I really want to get around to the other three books as soon as possible. It’s kind of ridiculous that I haven’t completed this series yet, as I have a feeling that nearly everyone has read it. Hopefully I will get to all of them this year!

1. Victoria Schwab Books

As you may know, Victoria Schwab is one of my all time favourite authors. I have adored everything that I read by her so far, (The Archived, The Unbound, A Darker Shade of Magic, Vicious) so I can’t believe that I haven’t read these three books by her, epsecially since I already own them. The biggest priorities for me are the two books in the Shades of Magic series, as I really want to read them and find out how the story will continue and wrap up!

What are some books that you didn’t get to in 2017 that you plan on reading as soon as possible?

Thank you very much for reading my review and I hope that you have a wonderful day!

    1. I hope you enjoy A Crown of Wishes whenever you get around to it! I have heard so many great things about Unravel Me and Ignite Me and I can’t wait to get around to them. (And I have a feeling that I will enjoy them a lot!)

  1. Yay I found another book blogger that hasn’t read the Mortal Instruments XD I’m planning to read the whole series this year since I own all of them. I don’t really have certain books or series that I wanna finish this year. I guess I’ll just read all the books on my shelves for now. 🙂

  2. All of Victoria Schwab’s books are ones that I’ve been meaning to read for the longest time ever, but somehow they just kept getting pushed down my TBR list! I also bought The Star-Touched Queen and was thinking of reading it for a culture book club of mine, because I’ve heard the story is intertwined with Indian culture and myths… Do you think it would be a good culture book club choice? Good luck with your TBR list! 😋

    1. I can only recommend Victoria Schwab books, they are all amazing! (The ones that I have read so far at least.) My favourite was Vicious, if you need one to start with. 😉 I think it would be a good culture book club choice, the setting and story is intertwined with Indian mythology – it makes for a very unique fantasy read. 🙂 Thank you!!

    1. I can’t wait either! I just need to find some free time to invest in reading it, which won’t be for a while because of university. Buuut I’m hopeful that I will get to both books in the first half of the year! I’m also really exited to get around to This Savage Song, I have heard great things about it. 😀

  3. Oh there are so many books I didn’t get to this year (and I feel like I say that literally every single year so maybe I should accept it’s never going to change) but they’re high priority on my to-read list for this year that’s for sure! 🙂
I hope you manage to get around to all of these releases soon Anna, and I really hope you love A Crown of Wishes and V.E. Schwab’s books as well. She’s my all-time favourite author and A Conjuring of Light was one of my number one reads last year so I’ll be interested in seeing what you think of that one for sure! 🙂 Great post as well. 😀 ❤️

    1. It’s the same for me! At the end of the year I always have a ton of books that I wanted to read, but for whatever reason I didn’t get around to them. But these ones are my priority! 🙂 I hope you get to all the books that you want to read.
I’m hoping that I will get around to them soon as well. I’m sure that I will love A Crown of Wishes, as I simply adored the first book and have heard nothing but amazing things about this second one. And Victoria Schwab is one of my favourite authors, so I’m certain that I’m going to love all of her books. 🙂 I’m glad to hear that you loved A Conjuring of Light, it makes me even more exited to get around to it. Thank you Beth!! ❤ 😀

    1. I enjoyed Shatter Me, though it didn’t blow me away. I’m beyond exited to get around to the two other books in that series, as I have heard amazing things about them! I’m sure that I will enjoy them. 😀 I hope you enjoy the Shades of Magic series, I will look forward to your thoughts on it.

  4. Except for Victoria Schwab, I didn’t get to read any of these either… I’m so disappointed in myself! I definitely want to start the Shatter Me series as it’s been so popular again lately after the newest release. I feel like it might be a good time to jump on the bandwagon hahaha
As for the others, I’m really curious about Uprooted as I’ve heard great things about it.
Hope you manage to pick these up soon, Anna! 🙂 And crossing my fingers 2018 will be a better reading year for you ❤

    1. Well, at least you got around to Victoria Schwab…me on the other hand I have all of these. I’m quiet disappointed in myself as well, but 2017 just wasn’t my reading year – I never felt like picking up anything. I definitely want to read the Shatter Me series before the newest release comes out. 😀 (So hopefully I will get to both books in February!)
I can’t wait to get around to Uprooted, it just seems like a book that I would love.
Thank you, I hope that as well! ❤ 2018 is already looking like a better reading year than 2017 and I'm living for it! 😀 I hope you have a great reading year as well!

  5. I’m currently reading one of the books I didn’t get around to last year (Morning Star by Pierce Brown!) 🙂
I’d hoped to have it read before Iron Gold came out, but that obviously didn’t go down as planned. 😛
Happy reading to you, and here’s to reading all the books we didn’t get to last year! ❤

    1. Thank you!! 🙂 I have heard great things about the other two Shatter Me books and I’m really looking forward to getting to them, I definitely want to continue reading that series. I hope you get around to Uprooted soon, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
