top ten tuesday

My Auto-Buy Authors! || Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and it has been moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

Let’s be honest, the title of this post is misleading. Mostly due to the fact that it’s called Top TEN Tuesday and I’m only featuring FIVE authors. Why? Because I don’t have that many auto-buy authors. There are even some of my all time favourite authors, who I don’t consider being auto-buy authors. (I think I’m weird because of that? But it is what it is.) I do have a few more than five auto buy-authors, but I don’t have ten. So I decided to just feature five of them. (I just liked that number, okay?)

For me, to consider an author to be an auto-buy author I must want to buy their books without knowing what they are about. I just find out that they are coming out with a new book and I’m putting it on my TBR, without looking at the synopsis or anything like that. It doesn’t mean that I immediately buy their books (let’s be real, I couldn’t afford that).

Anyway, I have rambled enough. Let’s just get into my list!

5. Patrick Ness

Books I own: The Knife of Never Letting Go, The Ask and the Answer, Monsters of Men, A Monster Calls, More Than This, And the Ocean Was Our Sky.

4. Roshani Chokshi

Books I own: The Star-Touched Queen, A Crown of Wishes.

3. Rick Riordan

Books I own: Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, The Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, The Hidden Oracle, Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods.

2. Victoria Schwab

Books I own: The Archived, The Unbound, A Darker Shade of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows, A Conjuring of Light, Vicious, City of Ghosts, This Savage Song.

1. Leigh Bardugo

Books I own: Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising, Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, The Language of Thorns, King of Scars, Wonder Woman: Warbringer.

Who are some of your auto-buy authors? Do you have many of them, or just a few? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

    1. I’m happy to hear that you loved the Chaos Walking series! 😀 Too bad about his other books. I haven’t loved everything that I read by him, but I have enjoyed everything. I just adore his writing style and the way he tells stories, which is why he is on my list. 🙂

  1. I agree with so many of these choices! Leigh Bardugo, Schwab, and Riordan will always be a few of my absolute favorite authors! I’ve only read the Knife of Never Letting Go and A Monster Calls by Ness. Although the latter is one of my favorite books ever. the former was a tad underwhelming. I am quite excited for its movie adaptation though!

    Lovely post, Anna! ❤️

    1. I’m happy to hear that you agree with many of my choices! 😀 Too bad that you didn’t enjoy The Knife of Never Letting Go. I read that trilogy years ago and loved it! A Monster Calls is such a fantastic book, so I’m glad to hear that it’s one of your favourite books. 😀
      Thank you Kelly! ❤

  2. Great list! Leigh Bardugo is definitely my #1 auto-buy author so it’s always great to see her make people’s lists like this. She’s got such a talent for writing great stories and intriguing characters. ❤

  3. Schwab and Bardugo made it onto my list this week as well. Those two are fantasy powerhouses.
I must confess I’ve not read any of Ness’s books despite being told by plenty of people to read them. I will get to one eventually.
