The End of the Year Book Tag

I was tagged by the amazing Kelly @Another Book in the Wall for this tag. Thank you once more! ❤ 🙂 Be sure to check out Kelly’s blog, she has amazing content and I always look forward to reading her posts. You are missing out if you aren’t following her!

1. Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

The only book that I have started this year that I haven’t finished is Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee. I expected there to be more, but I have been very good with finishing books this year. The reason why I stopped reading this book was because I wasn’t in the mood for a contemporary (and my mental health was acting up at the time I was reading it). I was actually very much enjoying this book and I plan on picking it up again very soon.

2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Not really? I’m not someone who reads a specific genre/book during a specific season. I’m a mood reader, so I pick up books whenever I’m in the mood for them despite the season.

But for the sake of answering this question “properly”, I decided to pick the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Recently I have decided to reread the series in its entirety, as it has been a few years since I have done that. I have reread one book here and there, but I haven’t reread the entire series. So I decided it was high time to do that again! This month I have already reread the first three books and I think they are the perfect autumnal books. (Though you can read Harry Potter during any season.)

3. Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

4. What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

So I actually picked four books for this answer. (When have I ever followed the rules?) I already mentioned that I want to read Tash Hearts Tolstoy soon, so I obviously had to put it here. The Republic of Thieves is the third book in the Gentlemen’s Bastards series by Scott Lynch and I just recently finished the second book in it. Obviously I want to continue reading this series as soon as possible. Tunnel of Bones by Victoria Schwab is a sequel that I’m very much exited to read, hopefully during the Halloween season. And Mooncakes is a graphic novel that I have received for review. I’m very exited to get around to it soon!

5. Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?

I’m not completely sure. There are books that I think could become my favourites, like The Republic of Thieves, but they wouldn’t shock me (as I already love the first two books in the series). There is always a possibility of a book becoming one of yearly favourites, but I don’t actually have a set TBR for the rest of the year. Basically I don’t even know which books I plan on reading, therefore I have no idea which book could become a new favourite of mine. Though Mooncakes might fit that category, as that graphic novel sounds like something I would love. (And as already mentioned, I plan on reading it soon.)

6. Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?

Not really? That is mostly due to the fact that I don’t usually have that many reading plans. I only do the Goodreads Reading Challenge and nothing else. That doesn’t really require making specific plans. I don’t do reading list challenges, as I’m a mood reader and I could never stick to them. I think I’m going to set my Goodreads Reading Challenge to 52 books, same as this year. (But not even that is set in stone.)
