Long Overdue Book Haul!

It’s been ages since I have done a book tag. To be precise my last one 15. April 2018. It’s been OVER A YEAR since I have hauled books. To be fair I don’t buy that many books, so I can’t do book hauls monthly as many other bloggers do. Instead I do these collective ones, once a year or so.

As you can see on the first picture there are 18 books features. But that is not all, I have 4 more books in this book haul. One of them I actually forgot to include in the overall picture (as I’m currently reading it and I completely forget about it) and three of them are back at my parents house, which is why I couldn’t include them. So this book haul consists of 22 books in total!

With all of that being said, let’s get into the haul!

The first three books that I would like to mention are all by Leigh Bardugo. I got the collectors edition of Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. They are such gorgeous books, inside and out. I have read both books, though not these editions. And I have written reviews for both Six of Crows and for Crooked Kingdom, so you can check them out if you are interested in my thoughts on them.

I pre-ordered King of Scars, but have yet to read it. I just haven’t been in the mood to read this book yet, plus I’m waiting for the release date of the second book to come closer. That way I won’t have to wait that long to continue the story! We shall see when I’ll actually get around to it. This book is also gorgeous and I love the gold foiling underneath the dust jacket.

20191025_134651The next two books in my book haul are Down Among the Sticks and Bones and Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire.

I have read and loved both of these books! They are portal fantasy books with diverse characters. I have also written reviews for both of these books, Down Among the Sticks and Bones and Beneath the Sugar Sky. So you can check them out, if you are interested in more of my thoughts on these books.

20191025_134715As you may know, Victoria Schwab is one of my all time favourite authors. So I obviously bough some of her books as well.

I got the new hardcover edition of Vicious, which is my favourite Victoria Schwab book. Obviously I had to get this gorgeous edition. I also bought City of Ghosts by her. I have read that book and enjoyed it a lot, even though it’s not one of my new favourites. I can’t wait to read the second books in both of these series (though I have to buy them first).

20191025_134921There is no real reason as to why I paired these two books together, aside from the fact that they are nearly the same size (so they look nice next to each other).

I came across And The Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness randomly one day in the book store. I just couldn’t resist it and I bought it. I have already read this graphic novel and it was a very interesting reimagining of Moby Dick.

I have read many Cassandra Clare books, when I heard that she was writing a series about Magnus and Alec together with Wesley Chu I knew that I had to read these books. If you don’t know Magnus is my favourite character from the Shadowhunter Chronicles, the only reason I read The Mortal Instruments was because of him. I really like Alec as well, thought that is more in the later books. The Red Scrolls of Magic was amazing and I’m very exited for the future books in this series!

20191025_135009The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid and The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee are two books with very long titles. (Which I have noticed now, as I had to type them both one after the other.)

That is not the reason that they are paired together. Rather these two books I got from my parents for my birthday this year! Books are the perfect birthday gifts, at least in my opinion. I have already read and loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. That book is one of the best ones that I have ever read. I’m hoping to read The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue soon, but who knows when I’ll actually get around to it.

The next group is books with pink/purple on them. The book that I forgot to include in the overall photo is Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee. As I have already mentioned in the beginning, I’m currently reading this book and I’m enjoying it so far. I’m over half way done with it and I’m hoping to finish it soon. I have already read both Wicked Fox by Kat Cho and Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I loved Wicked Fox and you can read all the reasons why in my review of it. Carry On was a lot of fun, but I had some problems with it as well. (Yes, I do plan on reading the sequel.)

These next three books are randomly put together. Honestly I have no idea why I decided to pair them together? Anyway, The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw is a book that I decided to buy after hearing that it was very atmospheric. I loved that book and I have written a full review for it, if you are interested in more of my thoughts on it. Recently I won a copy of The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. This is actually the first time that I have ever won a giveaway, so I’m very happy about that! And I honestly have no idea where Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes came from. I know that I bought it, but I seriously can’t remember when?

Book HaulTwo of the last books in this haul, at least from the main picture are No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai and Bag of Bones by Stephen King.

I actually bought Bag of Bones last year before Halloween, as my spooky read for that month. I enjoyed that book a lot, though it’s not one of my favourite Stephen King books. And that is the Croatian edition, in case you were curious about the language.

I randomly decided that I needed to read No Longer Human, so I bought it on impulse as well. I really love this pink edition, it looks amazing in real life. This was a hard book to read, but it was a great one as well. I’m very happy with my random decision to read it. I definitely plan on reading more by Osamu Dazai in the future.

Book Haul

The final three books in this book haul are the ones that I mentioned being in my parents house. (Because of that there is a different background.) These three books have another thing in common and that is that they were all gifted to me from my best friend!

She gave me Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and Persuasion by Jane Austen as Christmas gifts last year. I had already read and loved these books, I just never owned my own copies. And for my birthday this year she got me this gorgeous edition of selected Bronte sisters works. They include Jane Eyre, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Wuthering Hights. Out of those I have only read Jane Eyre, which is one of my favourite classics. (This is a Serbian edition, in case you were curious.)

Do you own any of these books? Have you read any of them? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

  3. Gorgeous editions for Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom! ❤ I'm always in love with the look (and of course the writing) of Leigh Bardugo's books. 🙂
Haha and I'm in the same boat. I bought an autographed copy of King of Scars a while back as well all pumped to read it, and STILL have yet to give it a go. 😛 I really want to get her new book Ninth House as well.
    Awesome haul! 😀

    1. They are sooo gorgeous! ❤ Same! Leigh Bardugo has some of the most stunning books out there and, of course, some of the best books. 😀

      1. Haha I actually ended up caving and just bought Ninth House even though I know I won’t get around to reading it now until after NaNoWriMo. I can’t help it, she’s just an instant-buy author for me. lol 😛
