Yes, you have read correctly – my little blog is officially 2 years old!!
I seriously can’t believe that it’s been that long since I started blogging. I’m usually not that consistent when it comes to anything, so I’m very surprised that I kept up with my blog for two whole years. Now blogging is something that I can’t imagine my life without.
A few weeks ago I put up a post asking for q&a questions in celebration of my 2nd year Blogiversary. And today I shall be answering all the questions that you asked me!
Thank you sooo much to everyone who submitted questions! ❤
Be sure to check out all their blogs as well.
- If your life was a book, overall what genre would it be?
The most obvious answer to this would be contemporary, seeing as those books are set in the real world and all that. Honestly I would like to pick magical realism, as it’s usually set in our world with magical elements woven into it.
(I just need some magic in my life okay!?)
- What character is a book/movie/TV show is most like you!?
The first character that came to my mind was Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. She is one of the characters that I most identified with (ignoring the obviously different time we live in). She is headstrong, stubborn, independent and loves reading. And I’m basically all of those as well!
- What do you consider your “desert island” book?
For me it’s definitely The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien.
(The whole trilogy in a bind up edition.) They are some of my favourite books and I don’t think I would get bored reading them over and over again. (Depending on how long I have to stay on the island.) Plus, they are rather slow books in the first place so it would take me a while to get through them!!
The other positive is that when
(or rather if) I get off the island I will be an expert on The Lord of the Rings and know every detail of it! Not sure how useful that would be, but it would be amazing nonetheless.
- What is a book you would make your enemy read? It could be the worst book you’ve read, or something you think would benefit them, up to you!
Okay, I don’t think I have any enemies?
(Or hopefully I don’t.) But if I did have them, I would make them read Animal Farm by George Orwell.
This is actually one of my favourite books and the one that made me think the most. I think everyone should read it at least once in their life, as the issues addressed in that book can be found in todays society as well.
(This book was literary life changing for me.) I would give this to my enemy to read, because I would hope that it would make them think and be more aware of our society and the things they might be doing wrong.
- If you could choose one song as your theme song, which song would it be?
The first song that came to mind was Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. It’s such a random one to come to my mind and I have no idea why I thought of it. But I do love that song and I wouldn’t mind it being my theme song. The second one I thought of was actually Critical Acclaim by Avenged Sevenfold, once again a really random one!
- If you could pick books to turn into a movie and a tv show, which books would you choose and why?
I’m always apprehensive when it comes to adapting a book to a movie or tv show, since there is a good chance that they won’t be good.
(We shall ignore that now!) I would love for the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini to be adapted into a tv series. This is kind of a cheat answer since Eragon was adapted into a movie, but it wasn’t that good and they didn’t continue adapting the other books. I would LOVE to see this series as a tv show – I would just love to see the world, the magic, the dragons and everything else! (I’m currently in the middle of the second book and so far I’m loving it!)
- What makes you start reading a book and what makes you stop?
I’m actually a mood reader, so I don’t have a specific method of choosing my next read. It usually depends on what kind of mood I’m in and what I feel like reading. Do I want to continue reading a series, start a new one, read a standalone. which genre I feel like delving into and so on.
And I don’t usually stop reading books when I start them. If I’m not enjoying a book, or if it’s too boring I will put it down and start another one
(as I usually tend to read multiple books at the same time) or I will skim read it. I just don’t like leaving books unfinished once I start them. There are exceptions to that of course, if I completely hate everything about the book (plot, characters, story, world) then I will stop reading it.
- If you could only read one genre the rest of your life, what would it be?
Without a doubt it would have to be fantasy! Fantasy has always been my favourite genre, ever since I was a child. And seeing how that hasn’t changed in all these years, I’m safe to say that I will always love it and want to read it. Plus fantasy has a variety of sub-genres, so I would have a lot of different options and it wouldn’t be monotonous.
- What is your favourite opening line? Can be more than one.
I don’t actually pay that much attention to the opening lines of books, so this one I actually had to think about and look for a while. I have found two that I really like!
“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”
—Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
“There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife.”
—Nail Gaiman, The Graveyard Book
- If all your books had to be one color, which one would you choose?
Okay, this is a really hard one! I’m struggling between white and black books. I LOVE both of those colours on books sooo much and picking one is really hard. I guess I would pick black books, only because I have a white bookshelf and the contrast would look amazing! Plus black is my favourite colour, so there is that as well.
- Which book have you re-read the most times?
That would definitely be the first four books in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. I have seriously lost count on how many times I have actually reread these four books.
(I have stopped counting at 10. Yes, I know that it’s ridiculous.) I have reread the whole series many times, but the first four books definitely the most. They are my comfort reads and whenever I feel down I tend to reach for one of these books.
- What is your all time favourite quote? (can be from a book, movie, song, anything!)
My all time favourite quote comes from Vicious by V. E. Schwab. This is one of my all time favourite books and this quote simply resonated with me. Ever since I fist read it, I couldn’t get it out of my mind.
“Plenty of humans were monstrous, and plenty of monsters knew how to play at being human.”
― V.E. Schwab, Vicious
- If you could be one character for a chapter of a book and change the choices that character made in that chapter, what character, what chapter, and what choices would you change?
Okay, I will keep this spoiler-free so my answer will be very vague.
The book is Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo and the character is Alina.
(As for the chapter I really don’t know which one it is and I don’t have the book with me at the moment to check.) I would change her decision on who to be with. I have read this book years ago and I’m still not over the fact that she didn’t pick the person that I wanted her to be with, so I would definitely change that!
- If you could choose one side character from a book for an author to make a novella or book about which character would it be?
I would love for Leigh Bardugo to write a book about Nikolai Lantsov. He is one of my favourite characters from The Grisha trilogy and I would love to read a book
(or series) about him. I would love to read about his adventure before the happenings of The Grisha trilogy and see how he got his nickname. Honestly though, I would love any kind of book about Nikolai, no matter the time period that the story takes place in.
- What book would you read over and over and not get bored?
Well, the obvious answer would be the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Seeing as I have reread this series over and over without getting bored of it.
So far I have reread this series over 10 times
(I stopped counting after the tenth reread actually) and I never got bored of it. There is just something magical about this series and it feels like coming home whenever I read it. So why in the world wouldn’t I reread it then? I actually starting my reread of the first book tomorrow, as it’s Harry’s birthday. 😉
- Outside of your favourite genre (which I guess for you would be fantasy right?) what is the best book you’ve read?
Yes, fantasy is definitely my favourite genre! 😉 I have decided to pick a few book from different genres that I consider to be some of my all time favourites.
- What is the best discovery you’ve made through blogging; can be a book, something book-related, or anything really?
The best discovery that I made through blogging is the community of book lovers. I love sharing my opinions on the books that I read and talking about them with other people is simply amazing.
(Especially since I don’t have friend who read in “real life”.) I have made many amazing friends through blogging and I couldn’t be happier about that! The bookish community is simply wonderful and I’m very happy to be apart of it. ❤
- Do you have any aims for your third year of blogging?
I do have a few new things that I would like to do on my blog. I would love to start writing discussion posts – and yes, I have been blogging for 2 years now and have never made a discussion post. I also have an idea for a new type of post on my blog, but I can’t go much into detail about it now as I haven’t worked everything out yet.
(It isn’t really bookish related though.) And the obvious aim is posting regularly and continuing blogging for another year!
- Is there any advice you can share that you wish someone had told you when you first started blogging?
I wished someone told me how much time blogging actually takes up. I never imagined I would spend hours working on a single post. I never imagine how much time it would take to reply to all comments, catch up to other peoples blog posts, discover new blogs and everything else that blogging entails. So yes, someone informing me about that beforehand would have been amazing!
- If you won the lottery what’s the first thing you’d do with your winnings?
This one I didn’t even have to think about, I immediately knew the first thing that I would get: I would buy myself an apartment in Vienna, decorate and furnish it. I’m currently living in Vienna in a student dorm, but I would love to live here in the future as well – so having my own apartment would be freaking amazing!
- What’s your most anticipated yet-to-be-released book at the moment?
- What’s your Hogwarts House? (and wand if you have one off Pottermore 😉 )
- Do you have a favourite Disney movie?
My all time favourite Disney movie is Mulan.
(Without a doubt, I have seen that movie soooo many times.) But other Disney movies that I love are: Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules.
- If you were stranded in any fantasy world- which one would you least like it to be and why?
Honestly most fantasy worlds don’t seem like places I would actually want to be in. I would either be maimed or dead within seconds. The first one that came to my mind, when it comes to fantasy worlds that I would stay clear of, was the world of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. Lets be real, everyone dies there and I seriously don’t want to be apart of it!
Once again a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who submitted their questions! Without you this post wouldn’t have been possible.
Thank you very much for reading and I hope that you have a wonderful day!
